Symptomology

• Chinese Symptomology: Gu chong (gu worms); Xia li (dysentery); Xiao fu tong (lower abdominal pain); Xia qi (flatulence); Pi Juan (fatigue); Digestive disorders; Loose stools; Abdominal distention. Western Symptomology: Irritable bowel syndrome, Intestinal parasites, Intestinal dysbiosis, Candidiasis, Leaky gut syndrome, Food allergies, Crohn’s disease, Hypoglycemia, Chronic allergic rhinitis/sinusitis, Candida, Chronic Diarrhea, Parasitosis, Skin allergies, Chemical sensitivities.

The basis for this formula is Su He Sheng Di Tang (Perilla, Mentha & Uncooked Rehmannia Decoction) as found in the Qing dynasty book, Yan Fang Xin Bian (A New Compilation of Tested Formulas) published in 1846. This has then been modified based on a combination of Heiner Fruehauf’s published research and Bob Flaws’s clinical experience. This formula is also based, in part, on the rationales for Ban Xia Xie Xin Tang (Pinellia Drain the Heart Decoction), Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Supplement the Center and Boost the Qi), and Xiao Yao San (Rambling Powder). Blue Poppy’s version is a 10:1 extract.

Pattern discrimination:

Consider in cases of spleen qi vacuity with intestinal damp heat complicated by liver depression, stomach dryness, heart qi and blood vacuity.

Dosage: Three capsules two times per day equal not less than 30g of raw medicinals. However, because our extraction process is far more efficient than stove-top decoction, we believe that this amount of extract is actually more like the equivalent of 40-60g of a bulk-dispensed herbs.
